The draw for Rugby World Cup 2023 was made last December, when Scotland were drawn in Pool B alongside current reigning champions South Africa and Ireland, with the remaining two places being determined by the ongoing qualification process. Labelled at this stage as Asia/Pacific 2 and Europe 2, the qualification process could see the likes of Hong Kong, Tonga and Russia as potential candidates for those eventual places, but with the tournament two-and-a-half years away there is still a lot of rugby to be played.
