IMPORTANT NOTE: The below is for rugby events and this may change for third party events - specific prohibited items will be detailed on the specific event FAQs
For the safety of everyone at the game, there are a few items that will not be allowed into the stadium. Bringing these items into the grounds, for your use or for someone else’s could result in an ejection from the event.
PROHIBITED ITEMS
Prohibited Items within Scottish Gas Murrayfield and Hive Stadium as of 2024/25
Customers in possession of the following items will not be permitted to enter Scottish Gas Murrayfield or Hive Stadium.
1. BAGS LARGER THAN A4 – Unless required for Medical or Childcare purposes.
NOTE – Scottish Gas Murrayfield Stadium does NOT have bag drop facilities so customers with bags larger than A4 require to take them away and deposit them in a safe place before entering the stadium.
NOTE – Scottish Rugby reserves the right to implement a different bag policy at different levels of events, any changes to the A4 policy will be stipulated on tickets and in fan communications.
NOTE – Scottish Rugby has the right to search all bags coming on site no matter the size.
2. FOOD OR ALCOHOL OF ANY KIND - Customers will be required to dispose of alcohol in bins provided at entry points.
NOTE – Small amounts of food will be permitted for medical purposes
3. HIP FLASKS, METAL DRINKS BOTTLES, THERMOS FLASKS, HARD CASED REFILLABLE WATER BOTTLES, CANS, METAL or HARD PLASTIC BOTTLES, OR ANY KIND OF GLASS CONTAINERS (NOTE – small, refillable plastic/metal Coffee Tumblers under 600ml are permitted as long as they are empty) – Bins will be available at turnstiles for disposing of items or contents.
4. SEALED or UNSEALED PLASTIC SOFT DRINKS/WATER BOTTLE LARGER THAN 500ML - Bins will be available at turnstiles for disposing of items.
5. FIREWORKS, FLARES, SMOKE BOMBS OR ANY OTHER KIND OF PYROTECHNIC ITEM – Possession may constitute a criminal offence, and customers found to be in possession of such items will be referred to Police.
6. KNIVES, WEAPONS, DANGEROUS OR HAZARDOUS ITEMS - INCLUDING ANY SUCH ITEMS CARRIED AS AN ELEMENT OF NATIONAL OR RELIGIOUS DRESS - Possession may constitute a criminal offence and customers found to be in possession of such items will be referred to Police.
7. BANNERS OR FLAGS WITH SLOGANS WHICH ARE OFFENSIVE, ABUSIVE OR OF A RACIST, HOMOPHOBIC OR DISCRIMINATORY NATURE – Banners of this type may constitute a criminal offence and customers in possession of such items may be referred to Police.
8. ANIMALS OTHER THAN GUIDE OR ASSISTANCE DOGS
9. GOLF OR LARGE UMBRELLAS (NOTE – small, foldable umbrellas are permitted)
10. PROFESSIONAL/COMMERCIAL CAMERAS / CAMERAS WITH DETACHABLE LENSES and/or CAMERAS THAT DO NOT FIT COMFORTABLY IN THE POCKET.
11. TRIPODS, SELFIE STICKS, I-PADS
12. ANY OTHER ITEMS DEEMED TO POSE A RISK OF INJURY OR ANNOYANCE TO OTHER CUSTOMERS
