For security reasons, we strongly advise patrons not to bring bags to Scottish Gas Murrayfield. However anyone who has a requirement to do so (for example medical/childcare reasons/highland dress sporrans) should go to a designated search lane where bags will be searched and tagged prior to entry into the stadium.
Please be aware that access via this route to the stadium may take slightly longer than through non search lanes.
Is there a drop off/bag storage facility?
There will be no bag storage facilities at the Ground, so spectators are urged to only bring such limited and necessary possessions as they can keep on their person.
I need a bag for medical/childcare purposes; what should I do?
If you are required to bring a bag on medical or child care grounds, please make yourself known to a steward upon arrival at the Ground and to be directed to a specific entry point, where your bag will be searched. Bags required for medical and child care purposes will be tagged before entry, and such a tag should remain present and visible during the spectator’s time in the Ground.
Can I wear a Sporran?
As Sporrans form part of our National Dress, you will be permitted to wear them to events at Scottish Gas Murrayfield. Due to their size and uniformity this allows a search to be taken very quickly and without any contact from our stewards directly.
Can I bring along my Bagpipes in their case?
Bagpipes are an integral part of creating the very unique atmosphere that Scottish Gas Murrayfield is known for and will be permitted at events at Scottish Gas Murrayfield.
All cases used in the transport of bagpipes will be searched before entry is gained.
How does the bag policy impact Covid restrictions?
Scottish Rugby is committed to playing its part in ensuring our events are as safe as we can possibly make them and help to minimise the risk of infection. By reducing the number of bags in the stadium, this will enhance our Covid preventions as it will help reduce the amount of time fans spend queuing to gain entry and avoid the need for any unrequired contact between fans and our stewards. Due to our legal obligation to perform Covid Vaccination Status checks, this bag policy will also allow for less queuing times prior to and during our gates opening.
Do I need to bring my own Sanitary products?
Scottish Rugby will provide free sanitary products which will be available in the appropriate toilets, the Gatehouse, Reception and our Pram Storage facility.
As part of our ongoing commitment to inclusivity and diversity, these free products will also be available in gender-neutral toilets which were introduced to Scottish Gas Murrayfield for the first time during our 2021 Autumn Series.
Are there any specific security risks I should be aware of?
Scottish Rugby takes the safety of our fans, staff, volunteers, players and venues extremely seriously and we continually review our security and risks to ensure that we can provide you with a safe and enjoyable experience. The implementation of our bag policy is an evolution of our continuing reviews and has not been put in place due to any specific incident or any current threat. While it is acknowledged this may cause some inconvenience, this socially responsible customer care offering is part of our commitment to delivering a safe and secure environment for all fans to enjoy peace of mind during their visit.
Can I still purchase a bag from the Scottish Rugby Store at Scottish Gas Murrayfield on the day?
Yes - Bags purchased from our store are sold empty and do not require any additional searching and contact from our staff other than scanning during purchase. As such a purchase is made from within the stadium there is no impact on the queuing that would take place at the turnstiles and has no further transfer risk of any infections.
